GPR - Ground Penetrating Radar

GPR Ground Penetrating Radar is an excellent tool for imaging the subsurface, whether you are looking for a missing underground storage tank, a wayward pipeline, or if you are attempting to figure out how much overburden you have before bedrock. We invite you to explore the 3D model presented above. Turn the tank off and have a look at what a large GPR anomaly looks like when you're chasing a tank buried in the middle of a road way.

The Model

There are 4 layers of data present

  • 3 ground prenetrating radar lines collected with a Sensor & Software 250 MHz antenna
  • EM38 conductivity layer occupies the plan view

Considerations

Soil conditions are one of the limiting factors for good GPR imaging.

  • We attempt to gain an understanding of site conditions and project objectives before we head out
  • Often it is beneficial to have complementary datasets, such as an EM38 (as seen in the above model)
